Our strategy for choosing options was to begin with a "Pie in the Sky" configuration of options and upgrades that included everything we would love to have in our new home. Our sales rep gave us the options list for the Oakmont which we took home and reviewed for a few days. When it came time to negotiate we couldn't quite get to a number we were happy about with our "Pie in the Sky" so we needed to remove some items. Overall, we are very happy with what we ended up with and feel we negotiated a fair deal. Here are the dirty details:
Exterior
Elevation E
Brick Front
Partial Porch
(see photo on the right)
Basement
Egress Window (req'd by code)
2 Foundation Windows
3 Piece Plumbing Rough-In
Main Level
Morning Room
Wyoming Cherry Spice Cabinets
Brushed Nickel Hardware (kitchen & bathrooms)
Recessed Lighting in Kitchen
Gas Range Hook-up
4 Foot Extension to Family Room
Side Fireplace (slate) with 2 recessed lights
Window in Family Room (rear)
Study
Interior Cased Openings
Crown Moulding & Chair Rail
Pine Banisters
Upper Level
Closed Foyer (adds sq. ft. to bedrooms and hall bath)
Luxury Owners Suite
Ceramic Tile Upgrade – Owners Bath

We are within our 30 day window so we still have the opportunity to make non-structural changes. Does anyone have any comments or recommendations on items to add or remove?
where is your FOLLOW this blog tab? I'd love to follow you!
ReplyDeleteI have never seen this model! It sounds like you have picked awesome options! Can't wait to see it being built!
Congrats!
Wow, all of your selections sound amazing. We also took the same approach with our townhouse. We first did a cost estimate with everything we wanted and then began to delete things to get closer to the number we wanted to see. Can't wait to eventually see pictures of everything! Do you know when they are potentially breaking ground on your house?

@ Noey: Thanks! I added a "follow by Email" gadget. Is that what you mean? I'm sorry - I'm new to blogging. If that doesn't help, lmk what to look for and I will add it :)
ReplyDelete@ Colleen: We break ground sometime around late Feb/Early March! That should have us in by early June with plenty of time to enjoy the pool this summer! Yay!
We have selected Wyoming Cherry Spice cabinets in the kitchen and Andover Maple Spice in the baths too!
