Good News!

We stopped by the model in our future community on Friday.  While chit-chatting with the SR we learned they have started five homes on our street and that we are #7!!!  Back in September when we signed our agreement we were told that we would be #10, but I guess there have been a few changes.  They expect to have our pre-construction meeting in four weeks!  We're pumped!  We had our first meeting with RH back in June, so it's been a long wait.  Four weeks feels like no time at all!  We spent two hours on Saturday morning reviewing our electrical plans to be sure we have added everything we want/need.  I sent an email to the SR about a few additions and I'm waiting to hear back.  I hope it's not too late!

The new PM was passing through while we were there too.  He was very personable and my husband and I agreed later that evening that we got a good "vibe."  The homesites seem to be selling quickly, especially on the first third of the street where the lots are graded and ready for building.  Here's a snapshot of their sales progress as of 1/20/2012.  The dark green lots belong to RH and the lighter green lots belong to the other builder, S&A Homes.

We also learned that RH decided to move their new model to the first lot as I have indicated on the photo.  Originally, it was going to be located next door to us.  The lot in between the model and our home will now be used as a parking lot for people vising the model home.  We were disappointed to hear this because it was one of the reasons we chose our lot.  Also, it is likely that the "parking lot" will be the last home built and we were expecting most of the construction near our home to be complete by the end of this summer.  This home will probably be built no sooner than 3 years from now when they are finishing the final phase of our development.  On the other hand, there will be extra parking next door that we can hopefully use when the model is closed :-)  Oh well, in five years it won't matter......

  2. You'll be so happy to be in your new home you probably won't even notice and/or care. And maybe with the parking in-between there is less of a chance of people walking up to your house thinking its the model... maybe? Glad to hear you are pushed up on the list for construction!

  3. That's a really great point, Colleen! I'm planning to spend my free time at the pool anyway so I probably won't even notice :). I hope you and John had a fabulous time on your cruise! They've been hard at work on your place. It looks great!

  4. The extra parking after hours is definitely a bonus. It seemed like it took forever from the time we signed in July to the pre-construction meeting in October, but as I'm sure you've heard, once they break ground the time flies by.
