Plumbing, Fixtures & Visitors

For the most part, the plumbing is hooked up and the water is running.  All of the bathroom fixtures have been installed.  We decided to take the standard chrome fixtures and upgrade as we paint and decorate down the road.  Here's what you can expect if you did the same:

Is your waterline attached to a 2x4?

Master bathroom vanity

Master bathroom shower

Master bathroom soaking tub

Hall bath vanity (notice the elongated toilet bowl)

Powder room pedestal sink

Powder room fixture???
I was expecting it to be the same as the upstairs bathrooms!
Does your powder room have this fixture?
Looks more like a utility tub fixture to me. . .

Laundry/Utility tub

Standard kitchen faucet

Standard dishwasher
Carpet awaiting installation in the morning room
We found turkey tracks in our side yard - Gobble Gobble!

Little by little things seem to be coming together.  Much of the electrical still needs to be done and our island and range need to be installed.  There are a TON of cosmetic fixes that need to be addressed before the final paint.  But after that it's just cleaning and carpet as far as we can tell.  It's been three weeks since we've had any communication with our PM other than a few "text-like" emails so we're just assuming that we're on schedule for our final walkthough in 10 days.  Depending on how things go between now and then, we may move forward with hiring our own home inspector.  Either way, we expect to be in our new home in four weeks!  We. Can't. Wait!!

  1. woohoo! exciting! our pm was adamant about the fact that all little touch up things get handled automatically before the walkthrough, so were trying to step back and let him handle things, but if not he will get slammed when he considers it finished. And NO that is not the proper fixture! --Ericka

    1. We have a walkthough with PM scheduled for Wednesday so I'll make certain our punch lists match-up then. The powder room fixture will be the first stop on our tour. Eventually we plan to switch it out anyway, but it that is what is included, the switch will be on schedule for closing day! haha!

  2. That seems like a big turkey!

I looked at our options sheet and the standard faucet looks to better than that. If you still have your options sheet for the faucets you can check there (I had to initial mine).

Also, they may add it later, but I did not see the kitchen faucet sprayer on either side there in the picture. Just something to maybe check on.

    1. You don't get a sprayer with the standard kitchen faucet. We had to upgrade to a pull-out faucet to get one.

    2. Holy smokes, I just saw your reply! I am dumfounded that a simple pullout sprayer is not standard. Tack on another thing to discuss with the SR!

    3. Not not is it not included, but I had to pay like $275 to upgrade to get the pullout!

  3. Our standard bathroom faucets are different from yours, but if you have your options sheet like Thomas said, your faucet should be on there. That definitely looks like a utility sink faucet!

  4. the half-shitter faucet should be a lot nicer then that. complainn
Standard kitchen faucet has NO amenities.

  5. I agree on the powder room faucet. It should look like the other bathrooms. We have that same dishwasher and it is crap! The instruction manual says a small amount of water should always remain in the bottom to keep the seals wet, but the whole bottom stays full of water and it smells! Our PM moved on to another development after we settled and we got a new one who is hard to catch up to. We should have our 30-day follow-up next week and I want to ask about that dishwasher.

    1. I looked up the reviews for that dishwasher on like 5 different sites and they all said the same thing. It is a big piece of junk. There's always water in it and it smells. They even said it doesn't clean their dishes very well. That is why I threw such a fit to upgrade our appliances after our selections were "locked-in"

    2. We plan to replace the standard black dishwasher and range with better quality stainless ones upon move-in or shortly afterwards. Hopefully the crappy dishwasher won't be too hard to sell on Craigslist.

  6. I'm surprised at the powder room fixture. I would bring it up to the PM. All five of ours are all the same nice faucet.

The guy who owns the local appliance store, who also happens to live in our neighborhood, told me that washers (if they have a seal) and dishwashers should always be left open a bit so they don't get stinky.

Beyond that - you house looks lovely! You have a few things I wish I had. Next time I want a huge jetted tub. The one we have is adequate, but my husband and I agree a bigger one would be nice. I love your plentiful bathroom cabinets, too. Lucky!

    1. You should never have to leave your dishwasher hanging open! I have a nice dishwasher in the place I am currently living in and I have never had problems with the water not draining or with any smells.
